I traveled around the world, as a passenger on a working freighter. I was comfortable, even with all the stairs. I did have difficulty ashore with long walks. Freighter Cruise Blog

My hip felt better on the cruise, even with all the steps. I'm not sure why. I don't know if it was the roll at night while I was sleeping, or the fatter diet, or different exercise.

Many freighter companies do not allow passengers with artificial joints. Apparently the vibration causes severe enough pain, that passengers ask to get off as soon as possible.
